flowers through the air and you can hear the songs of the birds in the near by trees. If you are a romantic and love the outdoors, a garden theme wedding is perfect. A garden wedding can be a very elegant and romantic affair.
Location: For a garden wedding an outdoor location is ideal. A lakeside would be an incredibly romantic location for a garden wedding. You may also want to consider a city park or botanical garden.
Select a location with an abundance of fragrant flowers and foliage and even a small clear pond.
See if you can rent or borrow a pair of swans to help create a picture perfect look for your lake or pond.

Color Scheme: White is an essential color for a garden wedding. White brings out the freshness of a garden wedding.
Vivid spring colors such as pastels of pink, yellow, blue, lavender and green can be incorporated into your garden theme. The colors of all the spring flowers, such as gardenias, tulips, and hydrangeas are beautiful alongside white, cream or ivory and make a wonderful color combination.
Flowers & Decorations: Hand-tied bouquets are perfect for the garden look. Flowers often used for a garden theme wedding include tulips, Iris', hyacinths, lily of the valley, roses, lilacs and Ivy.
For the reception set up cozy round tables with umbrellas placed over each one if possible and layer your linens. Choose a soft, feminine print for the top, gather in four places and accent with large silk tassels. Use delicate, floral or gold-rimmed china with teacups at each place setting.
For center pieces use an arrangement of fresh cut flowers to match the bouquets. Sprinkle flower petals on the tables. Use an old-fashioned bird cage for your card holder.
A romantic idea is to set up a large birdbath or fountain and have guests make special wishes for the happy newlyweds by tossing in coins or flower petals.
Dinner Ideas: Let delicate finger foods take center stage. Concentrate on light, portable finger foods such as finger sandwiches, berries and melons, deviled eggs with sun dried tomatoes, stuffed mushrooms with feta, spinach and bacon, curry cucumber sandwiches, gazpacho, strawberry cream puffs, mini cheesecakes. The possibilities are limitless.
For refreshments, consider cherry, peach or lavender lemonade, iced tea and a light sweet wine.
Favors & Parting Gifts: Wedding favors for a garden wedding can be either whimsical or classy. Terra cotta pots with seed packets make great favors.
Using a 2" or 3" small terra cotta pot, place a small envelope of flower seeds and a small envelope of dirt inside. Decorate a popsicle stick to read "Everywhere you go, love blooms".
Flower bulbs in muslin pouches are elegant yet practical garden wedding favors. Cone shaped bags with potpourri make cute favors. Hang them from the arms of chairs for a festive look.
