fireplace. Warm cider scenting the air. Winter can be a truly magical time, and a winter theme wedding may be the choice for you.
Location: An inn with a fireplace is perfect for an intimate winter wedding reception.
For a larger affair, you may want to consider using a historic mansion or private club that will still have the intimate warmth.
Be sure to ask what seasonal decorations they use, you'll save money as many sites are already decorated for the holidays.
Color Scheme: There are many colors available for winter weddings. Silver, Gold, White, Ivory, Ruby Red, Emerald Green, Sapphire Blue & Burgundy are all wonderful colors that are an integral part of the season.
Flowers & Decorations: Winter brides often use red roses, carnations, calla lilies and other red flowers in their bouquets with accents of silver, white and green, or other colors traditionally associated with the holiday season.
Poinsettias, amaryllis and evergreens are popular choices for decorations.
Decorate tables with white poinsettias. Consider having bride and groom snowmen centerpieces, miniature ice sculptures, or large snow-globes. Small Yule logs can also be used to create spectacular centerpieces.
It would be absolutely stunning to have a miniature Christmas or holiday village on the cake table or on it's own table. If planning to do this, you might ask for a "mini-house" or "Christmas village" shower, and surprise shower guests with your use of the village at the wedding.
Christmas Trees, Wreaths & Candlelight are all you need for the finishing touches.
Dinner Ideas: Eggnog, hot chocolate, spiced wine, mulled cider and wassail are all good drinks to help set the mood of a winter reception theme.
Cheese fondue would make a warm and fun appetizer to start off your winter wedding feast.
Follow with a soup course instead of a salad if you are having a sit-down dinner or provide soup on the buffet. Warm bread is especially satisfying on a cold winter day.
Ham, turkey, fish or beef all would be suitable meats for your meal.
Favors & Parting Gifts: Place silver bells decorated with ribbon at each setting. These can be used to attract attention at the table or to order the groom to kiss the bride!
Mini snow-globes or snowmen make adorable winter favors. Other winter favors to consider, an icicle or snowflake ornament, or a holiday cookie cutter with a cookie recipe attached that says your names, wedding date, and "truly cut out for each other".
